Architectural detail: Skylights in the rain

Sometimes I read that architects ignore the 'other' senses when they design buildings, and I think that is so unfair.  Almost every architect I know is very aware of the way sound, or scent, or temperature affects the way a space is experienced.

One thing I would definitely incorporate into my dream home would be a skylight.  And it's not necessarily to bring in natural light.  It's actually because I love the sound of the rain on skylights.  In the house we live in now, we have a skylight in the bathroom and it's so soothing when it rains.
