Shopping: iPad cover

I succumbed to the frenzy yesterday and ordered The New iPad for myself.

Still in the glow of the big purchase, now I'm considering what type of cover it needs.  Or, more precisely, how will I accessorize my accessory?

I'm already getting a Smart Cover as a hand-me-down from my husband, which will be great when I'm at home.  But I'm concerned about what will happen to the iPad when it's in my bag.  Keys could easily scratch up the back, or (even worse) wiggle their way between the cover and the screen and do all sorts of naughty business.

I think I need a case that will swaddle the whole thing.  Perhaps something like this:

But having just spent a lot on the iPad, I should probably conserve some cash now and try making my own.  I think an envelope-shaped case should be easy to sew.  Here's a quick sketch of what I envision:

I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on it, though.  Perhaps it will be more cost-efficient to just buy a case...
