Planning: Dining room light placement

One thing I see a lot in tract homes are dining rooms with lighting fixtures directly in the middle of the room.  This makes sense until you want to add a sideboard.  Then the table is pushed slightly off center, which means the light is also off center.
It's an easy procedure to call an electrician and have the j-box relocated.  It would also be easy to 'mask' the issue with a linear chandelier.  Something like this could be installed centered over the table, with the electrical cable leading to the off-center j-box.

And here's a more affordable option that could also work.
