Take a look at the front of this house.

It's modern and sleek, but so closed.  No real windows, barely a door; just a few geometric forms.  There's nothing here to even indicate a human scale.

Now look at the back of the house.

Hard to believe it's the same building!  The takeaway: you don't have to sacrifice openness even if you live on a dangerous or busy street.  Just turn the house inward.

But don't expect any trick-or-treaters, either.
